Celestia is the modern version of the old star mapping programme I converted from an Apple II listing in the Liverpool Software Gazette into first BBC Micro and then the Atari. It was a great programme to travel the stars.
The Croquet Project is an open source VR world builder. What appears to be unique is that it lets you embed rich media objects, not just HTML or Flash or Word or Excel, but even windows into other Croquet spaces. Stunning.
